Request Data Deletion
If you would like to delete your account and all associated data from Dates Reminder, you can submit your request using the form below or send us an email.

You can also send an email to privacy@giftideasapp.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request - Dates Reminder" and include:
- Your registered email address
- Your username (if you remember it)
- Confirmation that you want to permanently delete your account
⚠️ Important Note:
If you have an active subscription to Dates Reminder Premium, you must cancel your subscription separately through your device's App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) settings. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription, and you may continue to be charged.
What Happens After You Submit:
- Immediate confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your request
- Account deactivation: Your account will be deactivated immediately, and you will no longer be able to access it
- 30-day recovery period: You have 30 days to recover your account if you change your mind. After 30 days, all data will be permanently deleted
- Permanent deletion: After the 30-day recovery period, all your data will be permanently removed from our systems
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you request account deletion, the following data will be permanently deleted from our systems:
Account Information:
- Email address
- Display name and username
- Phone number (if provided)
- Profile photo/avatar
- Birthday and country information
- Account creation and update timestamps
Personalization Data:
- Your interests and preferences
- Important dates you've added (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
- User preferences and settings
Social Data:
- All friend connections and friend requests
- Friend profiles you've created
- Messages and communications with friends
Content Data:
- Your complete wishlist (all items, categories, and descriptions)
- All gifts you've added or saved
- All events and celebrations you've created or participated in
- Gift reservations and purchase information
Public Profile Data:
- Your public profile information (username, display name, avatar)
- Searchable profile data that allows others to find you
Storage Data:
- All uploaded photos and avatars stored in Firebase Storage
- Any media files associated with your account
App Usage Data:
- App usage analytics and activity logs
- Device information and identifiers
- Error logs and performance data
What Data May Be Retained
In certain circumstances, we may retain some data for legal, security, or operational purposes:
Legal and Compliance:
- Subscription Records: If you had an active subscription, we may retain subscription status and purchase history for up to 12 months after account deletion for customer support, refund processing, and legal compliance purposes. This includes:
- Subscription type (weekly or yearly)
- Subscription start and renewal dates
- Subscription status (active, expired, cancelled)
- Trial status
- Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law, court order, or to resolve disputes. This typically includes:
- Records of account deletion requests
- Transaction records (if applicable)
- Data necessary for legal proceedings
Anonymized Data:
- We may retain anonymized, aggregated usage data that cannot be used to identify you. This data is used for analytics and improving our services
- This includes general usage patterns, feature adoption rates, and app performance metrics with all personally identifiable information removed
Data Shared with Others:
- Information you shared with other users (such as in celebrations or friend connections) may remain visible to those users even after your account is deleted
- For example, if you participated in a celebration, your name and contributions may remain visible to other participants
Data Retention Period
After you request account deletion, the following retention periods apply:
- Immediate Deactivation: Your account is deactivated immediately upon request, and you cannot access it
- 30-Day Recovery Period: Your data is retained for 30 days in case you change your mind and want to recover your account. During this period, you can contact us to restore your account
- Permanent Deletion: After 30 days, all your personal data is permanently deleted from our active systems
- Backup Retention: Data in backups may be retained for up to 90 days before being permanently removed
- Subscription Records: Subscription-related data may be retained for up to 12 months for legal and customer support purposes
What Happens After Deletion
Once your data is permanently deleted:
- You will no longer be able to log in to your account
- All your friends will see that your account no longer exists
- You will be removed from any celebrations you participated in
- Your wishlist and all saved gifts will be permanently removed
- You will need to create a new account if you want to use the app again
- If you had a subscription, you must cancel it separately through your App Store or Play Store settings to avoid continued charges
Alternative: Delete Data from the App
If you prefer, you can also delete your account directly from within the Dates Reminder app:
- Open the Dates Reminder app on your device
- Go to your Profile or Settings
- Look for "Delete Account" or "Account Settings"
- Follow the prompts to confirm account deletion
- Your account will follow the same 30-day recovery period as email requests
